Valentine’s Day is just around the corner.
Even though I’ve been cooped up in my room, front of my laptop for several weeks, I have been quite influenced by what’s happening around.
With rather no interaction with the world outside, my mind is still influenced by Valentine’s Day. This is of course because the internet is booming with Valentine’s Day content- be it social media posts, ads or products!
Every topic I thought about writing didn’t make sense to me right now than the ones I could relate to this day. That’s when I realized - this is just a perfect occasion to write a fairly cheeky article this week.
Romance gets a whole new perspective when it’s portrayed in the form of an animated show.
Romantic relationship between two characters are often quite radical and less emotionally dramatic, which is also such pleasure to the mind. Watching shows on Cartoon Network, Disney Channel, Nickelodeon and Animax may have kindled an ever-so young idea about relationships fortuitously. Here are my favorite couples from different cartoons.
Pucca and Garu from Pucca
This South Korean animated show displays a 10-year-old Pucca’s hopeless love for the 12 year ninja Garu. She only hopes for a kiss or hug from him. It goes to an extent where she even chases him for that. Although, he usually does not reciprocate her actions, their naïve love however often results in deadly situations as fighting ninjas and even eating noodles!

Arnold and Helga from Hey Arnold!
The most hilarious childhood love story. Both Arnold and Helga go to the same school and even lives in the same neighborhood. And boy is she obsessed with him! Even though she portrays a rough side to Arnold, she often admires him from afar, serenading him with dramatic monologues. We could only sit and wonder when she would accidentally confess her feelings to him!

Ranma and Akane from Ranma ½
Even before we talk about the couple, has anyone else seen this show? Even though it isn’t an iconic Anime show as Fullmetal Alchemist or Naruto, this adult-comedy show is one of my favorites.
I think a part of that goes to the fact that I like the central couple in the show. Both hide their true feelings and break into a fight all the time, but when the time comes to kick some bad-ass, they are always there for eachother. I find their relationship quite groovy because there is lot of involvement of marital arts into the plot! They have always saved eachother from crazy and bizzare situations like Akane sacrifies for him in a hoax attempt to turn him into a frog!

Gomez and Morticia from The Addams Family
They have the most unique romance I’ve ever come across. So what if they’re creepy or spooky, they display the most heartfelt affection to each other. Be it wishing bad luck for each other, or getting excited to be trapped in cages, Gomez and Morticia are the dark humor romance at its best! Eustace and Muriel from Courage the Cowardly Dog
The pair from the tritagonist of the show are poles apart from eachother. Eustace is a grumpy man and Muriel is a sweet, well-spoken lady. But their story is the perfect depiction of an old couple. Eustace’s less affectionate childhood results him in being grumpy and seeking attention all the time from Muriel. When Courage is brought home, he doesn’t like the fact that its importance in the household may be in threat which makes him treat Courage rudely. However it comes to saving Muriel from evil, he always seeked alliance with Courage to save her.
